"Prostasal" is our new, private label name for the same formula as Postasol and Quercetin Plus offering nutritional support and welcomed relief for Men with Prostate Problems and an elevated PSA.

Few men ever consider their prostate until it starts to give them problems. Most men over 50 will experience some type of prostate problem that will affect their sexual and urinary function, if they fail to adopt protective measures. The search for a natural remedy for prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate) has taken giant steps in recent years. Saw Palmetto, Pygeum, Stinging Nettle, Flax Oil, Pumpkin Seed Oil and Zinc have all shown benefit, as they all offer nutritional support and are effective to some degree. But some men have more resistant problems and require even more assistance.

STEROLS AND STEROLINS
European researchers have confirmed, in a study published in The Lancet, that plant sterols and sterolins are effective in eliminating the symptoms of the most common prostate problems. German urologists have been prescribing sterols and sterolins instead of chemical drugs for over 20 years with excellent results.

The Autoimmune Link
There is a growing number of researchers that are of the opinion that prostate problems and even cancer may be the result of a misguided immune system that actually ends up attacking normal tissue of the body. This is called an autoimmune reaction and is well documented in such conditions as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, psoriasis, etc. Sterols and sterolins offer relief of autoimmune symptoms, and particularly the symptoms of prostate problems, by modulating the immune system and stopping the unwarranted attack on normal cells. Slowly the inflammation and disturbances in normal tissue are reduced and the symptoms go away.

"Recent research indicates that plant-derived cholesterol analogues known as sterols and sterolins may have excellent health-promoting benefits. Human research indicates plant sterols and sterolins have important anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, anti-diabetic, anti-cancer and T-cell proliferation activity. "Beta-sitosterol, a plant-based fat, has been shown to inhibit the growth of prostate, colon and breast cancer cells," say University of Buffalo researchers. The study showed that the phytosterol, beta-sitosterol, reduced the number of cancer cells grown in a laboratory setting by 66%. Beta-sitosterol reduced the levels of testosterone and certain enzymes that metabolize testosterone into more active forms. They also found that beta-sitosterol enhanced the intracellular signaling system that tells cells not to divide.

QUERCETIN - A Promising Newcomer
Quercetin could be helpful in preventing prostate cancer, research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. indicates. "Our laboratory results showed quercetin blocks the hormone activity in androgen-responsive human prostate cancer cell lines," said Nianzeng Xing, a Mayo researcher who presented his findings at the recent meeting in New Orleans of the American Association for Cancer Research.

"By blocking the androgen activity, the growth of prostate cancer cells can be prevented or stopped," he said, "Our study suggests quercetin may be a non-hormonal approach to accomplish that goal."

Using other herbs from China traditionally used in prostate problems, which have excellent research to associate them with prostate cancer, Dr. Donsbach compounded this formula in 1999. Since that time, we have observed an ever-increasing number of customers who had dramatic drops in PSA's in just a few weeks. By its very nature, the formula is loaded with phytoestrogens which will cause some symptoms similar to the use of female hormones.

MAGNESIUM
Magnesium is a mineral with many functions, one of which is relaxation of muscles. Since prostate problems affect the flow of urine, magnesium may relax the bladder sphincter as well as the prostatic capsule as a whole. One of the other benefits of magnesium is its anti-platelet aggregation function, keeping the bloodstream flowing freely.

NATTOKINASE
Nattokinase is an enzyme derived from fermented natto, a soy product commonly consumed in Japan. It was found that Nattokinase has remarkable clot dissolving properties. With the propensity for blood clots in cancer patients, Nattokinase adds a benefit normally not found in products for cancer benefit.

BORON
Recent publication of research on this not-so-well-known mineral have uncovered an amazing link to prostate health. Few minerals, including zinc, can boast of as much solid information relating to prostate health and the reduction of prostate cancer activity in vitro as can boron. Research indicates from 3 to 9 mg daily as the optimum dosage.

PROPRIETARY HERBAL BLEND
The herbs used are: Saw Palmetto, Curcuminoid Extract, Pygeum, Ginger, Panax Ginseng and Reishi. The prime purpose of these herbs is as a synergistic base for the more active ingredients.

SUGGESTED USE
The normal dosage is 4 capsules per day for 2 months, then check the PSA.
If reduced satisfactorily, reduce to 3 capsules per day for 2 months, then check PSA again.
If still satisfactory, reduce to 2 capsules per day for 2 months and again, check PSA.
If increasing, go back up to 3 capsules per day;
If stable, stay with 2 or you may try 1 capsule per day.
Let your PSA results guide you in reducing or increasing the dosage.

Because phytosterols may have some estrogenic-like effects, some men report breast tenderness or enlargement at the larger dosages. When an anti-inflammatory ointment, such as our CMO Pain Lotion or Progesterone Cream, is applied once or twice daily to the sensitive area, the tenderness usually is alleviated. This tenderness is to be expected and will disappear as the dosage is reduced.

I was diagnosed with PC in 1995. My psa was 7 at that time. I elected to go with EB Radiation treatments which lowered my psa to 1.7. As time went on it began to rise and by 2001 it was 4.2 so I started taking PC Spes until they went out of business. I next started taking 2 caps per day of PC Plus which immediately lowered my psa to 0.1. This was in 2002. I began reducing my dosage until I was taking 3 caps per week which kept my psa in the range of 1 to 3.

Since then I have continued using PC Plus (Prostasol, now Q+) at the rate of 1 to 2 caps per week, which keeps my psa below 4.0. I get a psa test every 3 months and I have to say that Prostasol has been a blessing for me. It's been 14 years since I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and I have had a perfectly normal life.

My only hope is that Prostasol will continue to help others the way it has helped me. I would be happy to talk to anyone who might like more information on this subject.

SEPTEMBER 2014 - UPDATE:

I'm still using Q+ (now PSA 90), I just turned 80 and doing very well. My recent psa was 0.9. I'm taking one cap per week and now getting a psa test every 4 months. Last November I had a urinary blockage which required surgery (called a TURP) and I've been fine ever since. Still had traces of PC but as long as my psa stays down, my Urologist is satisfied. I will continue taking your PSA 90 and hope it will continue to be available.

I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in March, 2000. MD Anderson in Houston examined me. Their suggestions for surgery or radiation. Both were not appealing to me. I found PC Spes and used that to reduce my PSA by 50% in 19 days.

I have continued to use PC Plus, Prostasol and now Quercetin Plus to keep my PSA in a low range that I am comfortable with. I have paid all the costs of the herbs used myself. I avoided the expensive treatments prescribed by most doctors, while having a very active life without the side-effects of surgery or radiation.

I am 74 years old. In the past 12 months, as an Insurance Adjuster, I have climbed and inspected 257 roofs of houses, motels and commercial buildings. The only side effects for me were slightly enlarged breasts and sometimes loss of libido, depending on the number of capsules taken weekly. My wife and I still enjoy an active sex life. The details of that are not important, but we are much more active than you would imagine. I will talk to anyone who wants to know about my use of these herbs for treatment.

I feel that if they were not available to me, my life would be much less satisfying and carefree. Over the years, I have talked to quite a few men about Dr. D's PC herbs. I'm so glad I took the course I did!

I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 1996. The prostate was removed surgically. My PSA started to go up in less than a year. I turned to PC SPES and continued with that product until it was taken off the market. I tried many other products and finally started Prostasol in 2002. I have been on Prostasol (Quercetin Plus) ever since. I feel very fortunate to have discovered this product; it has kept my PSA under 1.0 for over 7 years!

I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2003 and had IMRT radiation treatment in 2004. One year later, a bone scan was positive for bone mets in several dorsal and lumbar vertebrae, involving the pedicle and the right inferior pubic ramus and shoulder and ribs. At that time, I decided to take Prostasol and now, Quercetin Plus.

I have had a bone scan every year and they have always shown as being stable or a slight decrease in bone mets, until my last bone scan that showed complete resolution of all cancer.

I have maintained a PSA of less then <0.01 as measured by Quest Diagnostic using the DPC Immulite 2000 method. I continue to use 2 caps of Quercetin Plus per day out of fear that if I cut back, the bone mets might return. I have very slight breast enlargement. I hope and pray that this supplement will continue to be available.

I'm a Gleason 9 PSA 43 - 11 years out from radiation and seeding and since my PSA started to rise recently, I have had great results with Quercetin Plus, reducing my PSA from 8.0 to 0.4 in less than 4 weeks - dosage of 2 per day then 1 per day. 4 per day is too much!
